Luke Roberts to Leave?

It has been announced that Luke Roberts, who plays the brilliant Joseph Byrne, is set to leave Holby City in order to persue other acting roles.

It has been said that Luke has bee given a role in the new Pirates of the Carribean movie.

I am totally devestated by this news, and I have no idea what will happen to JosepByrneFans on Twitter, so any ideas would be welcome.

Update with more info soon

Elliot's Laser

I don't know if it is just me but I think that the storyline of the laser is being dragged out for far too long. Each stage of getting the laser seems to be have given a whole episode, almost as follows:

Ep 1 - Decide that they need a laser
Ep 2 - Try to convice others that they need the laser
Ep 3 - Go to the board to achieve funding for the laser
Ep 4 - Contact laser company and order laser
Ep 5 - Laser due to arrive but fails to be delivered
Ep 6 - Finally get the laser!!

In my opinion, I feel that they should be concentrating on developing patient and character storylines without making them longwinded and too technical for those who are not fully up to date with all the medical jargon.

On a lighted note, I think everyone had a laugh at the CT surgeons wearing their new protective goggles while using the laser!!

Lack of Updates

I want to apologise for the lack of updates on this blog. There is really no excuse to be honest, so I thought I would write something today.

Well, there are rumours going round that the amazing Amanda Mealing is leaving the show, with due to finish filming in September. Personally I am struggling to see Holby being the same without Mrs Beauchamp. Perhaps Joseph may step up and take the opening of CT Consultant. Now that is a nice thought - the "dashing" Mr Byrne as a Consultant...

Jac and Sacha seem to be working well together, and I must admit that they do make a comical team, though I hope that she will still have space for Joseph in her life. An end of series reunion would be perfect! Faye leaving could also help...

Anyways, that's all for now. Short, I know but short and sweet can be a good thing!

Taking Over

Today was shown to be fairly quiet on the wards of Holby City General, compared to that of the last few weeks. Most of the episode focussed on the storylines of the hospital staff and there was very little patient input.

It was really nice to see Jac back on Keller, working alongside Sacha. Michael once again has failed to make an appearance and there was no mention of him throughout the rest of the episode. There was however a mention from Ric, telling them that he wasn't going to be able to come into work. This once again left Keller in the hands of Sacha though Jac managed to jump in and step into the role of Acting Consultant, which she was obviously suited to.

The unusual pairing of Jac and Sacha continued throughout the episode and it was a relief to hear the awesome and comical conversations between them, after the seriousness of the last few weeks Although they worked well together in the end, I hope that the scriptwriters can leave it at that because we still need Joseph and Jac to get back together sometime soon!

Out other main focus this week was on Darwin Ward woth the arrival of a new registrar, Greg Douglas. I think many people have noticed that Douglas may be the man that we saw with Connie when she was working in the private hospital in London. If it is, can we expect a further relatonship from them?

Although Connie was not in the episode (neither was there any mention about Elaine and Kevin), we did see more from Elliot, who spent most of the time trying to achieve the funding to buy a state of the art laser for the hospital. The newly appointed CEO, Mark did not seem to do much to help in the situation, though in true Holby style, someone will swoop in and save the day.

An observant patient also let slip that he believed that Faye was pregnant, which Linden was understandably excited about. This was short lived when Faye informed him that the baby was probably Joseph's but Linden insisted that he would still stand by her.

Hopefully we will have more action next week and some more of Joseph! It would also be good to find out what happens with Elaine's surgery and if Connie turns to Greg when seeking comfort in the future.

Annalese to Return?

With all this mention of Annalese in the show recently is it inevitable that she should be returning? Perhaps to patch things up with Michael?

Are people hoping for her to make an appearance or do you think she should just steer clear?

Maybe this will give us some answers - SPOILER ALERT!

Brutally Frank

This weeks episode saw the arrival of yet another new nurse - Elizabeth. I am assuming that she has been hired to fill in the empty hole left by Maria's sudden departure. From what we can see, Elizabeth is hardworking and will undoubtably make a good nurse but perhaps she needs to relax around the patients and see them as individual people.

Maria's exit, however, seemed to have gone unnoticed throughout the rest of the wards except from a brief mention from Donna. So has the fact that Michael Spence has also failed to make an appearance for the third episode in a row. Ric also seemed to be otherwise engaged.

This left Keller Ward in the capable hands of Sacha Levy and the newly appointed Ward Sister - Donna, who took full advantage of the eager to please Elizabeth, ensuring that both the staffroom and nurses base were left spotless. Sacha on the other hand seems to be coping well on the ward, though some people are a bit confused as to why he was hired in the first place. Any ideas would be welcomed in the comments.

We are also shown the aftermath of Elaine's surgery and we discover that the probability that she will suffer from some brain damage is high. This of course leaves Connie feeling guilty over the fact that she wasn't completely hinest about the surgery - not that the surgery was really to blame, I mean the power cut didn't exactly help. Or the blocked tube for that matter.

However, the luck seems to have changed on the wards, as ones of the porter, Frank, wins on the lottery - big change from the flood last week that seems to have cleared up in next to no time which is amazing after the chaos it caused (somehow leaving Casualty unaffected!)

Jac was back on top form, albeit for one scene, and she conveniently lets slip about the surgical trial being performed on Elaine, ensuring that Kevin was within full earshot. This created some tension between Jac and Joseph - still they were actually talking to each other which could hopefully lead to something.

Obviously, this left Kevin furious and he went up to see Connie, which lead to an emotional but violent discussion. Joseph, being the handsome hero that he is, stepped in to restrain a raging Kevin, while Connie rushed to the aid of Elaine who had began to crash. with Elaine stable, Kevin made it clear that he wanted Connie and Joseph to leave.

Later we see that Kevin steals Elaine's case notes to make copies, leaving Connie understandably worried. As she leaves, she finds that her car has had its windows smashed and we see Kevin lurking in the background.

Mark did indeed successfully apply for the job of CEO which he was accepted for, thus making it his last day on AAU. He had a few run-ins with porter Frank which led to Mark taking a drill to his head.

All was well as Linden rushed in just in time to save the day (and Frank's life). Frank was grateful enough to leave a £10,000 donation to the hospital from his lottery winnings.

Another well played and well written episode, though still quite a lot Mark and the CEO job which I feel is starting to drag on.

Joseph moment of the week - Showing his heroic strength while restraining Kevin.
