Well I thought that I would give this blogging a go and start with the epic two-parter from last week.
After the opening credits had rolled, we were show the dramatic news coverage of the flood that was causing havoc through Holby. It wouldn't have made a good two-parter if there wasn't a natural disaster going on. Typically the cast of Casualty seemed to be left unaffected!
Donna arrived to work late, along with her niece Mia, who was dropped of at the hospital creche. This lowered her chance of getting the job of Keller Ward Sister even more, as we saw that last week, she was late in submitting her job application. She wasn't the only one going for the job though as, unbeknown to Donna, Maria had also applied. That could make things awkward!
Meanwhile, Connie and the lovely Joseph were left with the prosepect of not having a patient for their research project as it seemed that Elaine had suddenly gotten cold feet over her potentially life-saving surgery. Connie made an attempt to change her mind but gave in, deciding that the only option would be to wait until another suitable candidate had been found. Joseph was, understandable, unhappy with this plan and we saw him putting his foot down with none other that Mrs Beauchamp herself!
The Ward Sister interviews were held, and after much convincing from Mark, Donna was allowed to apply. There was some tension when Maria and Donna met up in the interview room, with Maria saying that she was unlikely to get the job. However she didn't hold back in her interview and put on a good performance, telling them that she had another job offer in Tanzinia. Donna on the other hand showed a much more honest and open side but on comparing the two, the choice was clear.
Indeed, Maria did get the job of Ward Sister, with Donna making it clear that she wasnlt happy, stating that she needed the job. This left Maria considering her options.
Mark spent most of the episode, trying to prove that he was capable of taking on the job of hospital CEO. Basically he tried to take control of the whole hospital as well as trying to find Mia and Chloe who had gone missing from the creche and to make matters worse there was also a paedophile on the loose.
After much persuasion and a heart to heart from Connie, Elaine agreed to the surgery. However all normal operations had been postponed to make room for the numerous incoming casualties of the flood. Connie and Joseph managed to pull a few strings and it wasn't long until Elaine was being wheeled into Darwin Theatre. All was going well until the flood caused a power cut throughout the Wyvern Wing and this left Connie and Joseph in some trouble. The show ended on this cliff hanger with the answers to be shown in the second part.
Personally for me I am finding the whole Mark/CEO job a bit boring now and think he should stick to what he is best at - nursing
Joseph moment of the show - him saying that the hospital was a total washout refering to the flood. Unfortunaltely no-one else seemed to see the joke!
